About the Project
Listening to Auraria’s Past is an audio walking tour that shares the history of the Old Westside neighborhood of Auraria, in Denver, Colorado. The current Auraria campus was built in the 1970s through the razing of this neighborhood and the displacement of over three hundred families. Faculty and students at the University of Colorado Denver built the tour in collaboration with displaced residents and their descendants to tell their history and stories. For questions about the project, please contact Dr. Rachel Gross.
Listening to Auraria's Past was made possible by a Humanities Initiative at Colleges and Universities grant from the National Endowment for the Humanities. Additional funding was provided by the University of Colorado Denver through the support of Regent Nolbert B. Chavez.
